What is a Mommy Makeover?
A Mommy Makeover is designed to reverse the effects of pregnancy and nursing on the body by treating the areas that are most prone to changes, such as the abdomen and breasts. Depending on your needs and preferences, a Mommy Makeover can allow you to achieve many of your cosmetic goals at once and during one recovery period, rather than addressing each concern individually. With a multitude of procedures to choose from, this combination treatment is completely customized to your aesthetic desires. Dr. Miller can help you develop the best treatment plan for your unique concerns after a thorough consultation.
What are the Benefits of a Mommy Makeover?
A Mommy Makeover is a comprehensive treatment plan that is uniquely tailored to each patient’s needs. Focusing on specific areas that you would like to improve, Mommy Makeover procedures can provide a number of benefits, including:
- Reduction of excess fat deposits that have proven resistant to traditional diet and exercise regimens
- Elimination of loose extra skin in the abdomen and tightening of the abdominal muscles for a flatter, more toned appearance
- Adding volume and shape to deflated breasts
- Tightening breast skin and lifting the breasts to reduce the appearance of sagginess
- Reducing signs of facial aging as well as stress and fatigue
Dr. Miller will meet with you in an initial consultation and speak with you about all aspects of treatment. At this meeting, you can talk with Dr. Miller about your ultimate goals. Together, you and Dr. Miller will decide on the treatment plan that can give you the best results for your needs.
Mommy Makeover Procedures
An array of cosmetic enhancement procedures can be combined for a total Mommy Makeover, giving you comprehensive improvement of areas of the body and skin that have been affected by pregnancy. Mommy Makeover treatments can be combined into one procedure, or spread out over a number of sessions. Options include:
Some of the most noticeable changes caused by pregnancy and breastfeeding are experienced in the breasts. After having children, the breasts commonly lose volume to some extent and may begin to appear flat or deflated. This loss of shape is typically accompanied by increased laxity in the breast skin, which can culminate in the development of sagging or pendulous breasts. A breast lift, also known as “mastopexy,” can be a powerful procedure to restore a more youthful look in the breasts.
Mastopexy can firm and rejuvenate the breasts by lifting the breast tissue and eliminating excess skin, providing a “perkier” appearance. Depending on your goals, the shape of the breasts can be further improved by placing implants to both add volume and enhance the breast contours.

Breast Augmentation with Implants
Breast augmentation with implants, often referred to as breast enlargement, adds fullness and volume to the breasts for a more contoured, aesthetic appearance. Breast implants, available in a variety of sizes, shapes, and types, can improve the appearance of breasts that have lost volume or fullness after pregnancy or breastfeeding.

After pregnancy and or weight gain, excess pockets of fat can appear in a variety of body areas that can be very difficult to get rid of. Liposuction is designed to eliminate fat deposits in the abdomen, back, hips, love handles, arms, thighs, neck, and other areas. These “first on – last off” areas are ideal spots for liposuction.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Abdominopalsty, or tummy tuck surgery is designed to treat the region that typically undergoes the most physical change following pregnancy: the abdomen. Pregnancy can cause the abdominal muscles to stretch and weaken, often resulting in the appearance of a hanging or protruding stomach. This, along with the loose, excess skin that commonly develops after pregnancy, cannot be resolved with dieting and exercise. A tummy tuck is the only treatment that can repair the abdominal muscles, remove excess skin and fat, and restore a taut look in the abdomen.

Injectable Facial Rejuvenation
Many new moms experience premature signs of aging in the face due to stress, fatigue, and sleep deprivation, as well as other factors. Injectable facial rejuvenation treatments, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers like Restylane® and Juvéderm®, can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and augment facial features for a more youthful, refreshed look.

What is Recovery From a Mommy Makeover Like?
Your Mommy Makeover recovery timeline will depend on which procedures were incorporated into your treatment plan. Some procedures, such as tummy tuck surgery and breast augmentation, require one to two weeks of recovery time while less invasive treatments, like facial rejuvenation, involve less extensive downtime. Your role in the recovery process is critical to your results and Dr. Miller will let you know what to expect with regard to your unique treatment plan. He will provide detailed recovery instructions about activity restrictions and incision care to help facilitate your healing process and optimize the final outcome of surgery.
There are a few tips that can help patients prepare for their Mommy Makeover and increase the chances of a smooth recovery period:
- Arrange for a friend or loved one to help you around the house immediately after surgery. This will give you the opportunity to rest as your body starts healing.
- Enlist help in childcare duties for the first couple of weeks after your Mommy Makeover. Your mobility may be limited, so planning for assistance in pick-ups and drop-offs, running errands, child supervision, and any tasks that involve heavy-lifting can be invaluable.
- Wear bandages and compression garments for the amount of time prescribed to minimize swelling, ensure proper healing of your incisions, and facilitate your new body contours.
- Most importantly, do not rush the recovery process and avoid strenuous activities until they are cleared by Dr. Miller. Your ability to achieve plenty of rest is essential to your health, as well as the final outcome of treatment.

Will I Have Visible Mommy Makeover Scars?
Every surgical procedure will leave scars, but Dr. Miller is highly experienced placing incisions in discreet locations for the least visible scarring possible. Depending on which procedures you pursued, scars can sometimes remain camouflaged within the natural lines and contours of the skin. For example, incisions created during a liposuction procedure are very small and usually imperceptible to outside observers. Furthermore, incisions made during breast augmentation can often be placed around the areola or within the natural crease of the breast fold, resulting in inconspicuous scarring after surgery. Breast lift scars usually appear in a lollipop-shape encircling the areola, with or without an additional horizontal scar along the breast crease. Scars from breast surgery can be concealed under a bra or bikini.
If a tummy tuck was incorporated into your Mommy Makeover treatment plan, the incision is typically placed from hip to hip near the pubic hairline. This allows any scarring to be well-hidden by underwear or a bikini bottom. Ultimately, Dr. Miller will clearly show you where your scars are likely to appear during one of your appointments. There are a number of ways to encourage optimal healing of your scars, including keeping the wound from drying out and protecting your incisions from sun exposure.
How Much Does a Mommy Makeover Cost?
The cost of a Mommy Makeover is personalized for each patient based on their needs and goals. For this reason, it is impossible to estimate the cost of treatment without first evaluating your concerns in a consultation. Factors that can affect the price of a Mommy Makeover include:
- The number of procedures in your treatment plan
