Anesthesia today is very safe and usually well tolerated. Newer agents and monitors have made anesthesia ideally suited for out patient procedures. This allows you to be able to "sleep" through your surgery, then awaken more quickly and go home sooner. The CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) will be with you throughout your procedure. Our anesthesia training, in combination with our Nursing background, enables us to provide professional anesthesia care with a warm, personal touch. It is important that you fully discuss your medical history, including all medications and herbs you might be taking with you anesthesia care provider. This allows us to personalize your anesthesia care for you. South Coast Anesthesia has been providing anesthesia to many Surgeons in the San Diego area for the past 16 years. We specialize in office based surgicenters. Our expertise can help ease any fear or anxiety you may have about your surgery. Besides our anesthesia expertise, we are ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certified. We provide service only to State Cerified facilities. What are CRNAs? Many patients have never heard of CRNAs (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists). CRNAs have been providing quality anesthesia care in the United States for over 100 years. CRNAs give 65% of all the anesthetics administered today (70% in rural areas). All SCA CRNAs have a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, have worked a minimum of 2 years in critical care (ICU, CCU, and ER), then completed a 24 month anesthesia residency, usually obtaining a Master of Science degree. After taking anesthesia boards, we are certified by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) and complete over 40 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
