Connected to San Diego by the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge, a 2.3 mile bridge with a disctinctive curved span, Coronado is home to some 25,000 people. commonly referred to as an island, Coronado is actually a peninsula surrounded by three bodies of water: the Pacifi Ocean, San Diego Bay, and Glorietta By. In the early 1900s a thin strip of the peninsula would flood at high tide giving Coronado the appearance of an island, even though it never was a natural island. More than two million people visit Coronado each year to enjoy its near perfect weather, more than a dozen accommodations, 75 plus restaurants and 200 shops and boutiques throughout the island.
